Sydney stock is already in the basin: Port Botany, plus Chullora, Yennora, Villawood and Erskine Park. The run is short by national standards. What moves the delivery is which vehicle your address forces, and how long that vehicle is tied up.
The basin already holds the stock
Port Botany and the western pool — Chullora, Yennora, Villawood, Erskine Park — are the holdings this site names. Stock is rarely the wait. The vehicle sets it, and the date is confirmed at order.
In a thin market you take what is standing. In Sydney you usually do not have to. Every grade is here in volume, so buy what the job needs. Cargo-worthy is checked wind and watertight before it leaves the depot and suits most storage. As-is is cheaper and is not sold watertight: a shell, a compound or a cut-up, not a place for anything that must stay dry. Cosmetic condition still varies inside cargo-worthy. Ask for photos of the actual unit; they are sent before delivery and are not a condition of how you pay.

Ingleburn hardstand is not a Newtown terrace
Smithfield, Ingleburn, Erskine Park and the newer estates past Leppington are the straightforward half: wide entries, level ground, a tilt-tray without fuss. Marsden Park, Box Hill and Oran Park builds sit in that easier western pattern too, until the lot itself is tight.
Terrace streets through the inner west and inner east have no off-street frontage, cars both sides, and clearway hours that decide when a truck may stop. North shore blocks are cut into sandstone with benched, curved drives built for a car. Strata blocks have a marked bay and no spare metre. Eastern beaches and the Botany sand belt look firm further back from the water than people expect, and will not always carry four crane pads.
A tilt-tray needs roughly twenty metres of straight run to slide a unit off. A crane truck lifts it over. In a great many Sydney postcodes the crane is the only vehicle that works, which is why crane trucks are busier here than on any other page we publish. A tilt-tray onto Ingleburn hardstand and a crane over a Newtown terrace are not one price. Quote them against the address. Mention clearways, and whether the ground is strata, in the enquiry rather than on the day.
A 40ft is often the wrong Sydney buy even when the cube rate looks attractive, because so many addresses lack the straight run. A 10ft earns its keep here more than in other cities: a strata bay, a terrace courtyard, a driveway that will not turn anything longer. Decide what the site can take, then the size, then the grade.
Middle-ring rebuilds, western industry, north-shore renovations

Sydney placement, decided before anyone likes a size
Write down the straight run you actually have, in metres, before you fall for a 40ft. Terrace courtyards in Newtown, marked strata bays, and north-shore drives benched into sandstone often cannot place anything longer than a 10ft or a short 20ft. Ingleburn, Smithfield, Erskine Park and Leppington estates usually can. Marsden Park, Box Hill and Oran Park depend on the individual lot, not the suburb brochure.
Clearways and loading zones decide the hour, not just the day. If the street only allows a truck between 10 and 2, that window is part of the quote. Strata or body corporate ground is the other permission: a box the driver can lift and the scheme will not allow is still a failed job. Mention both with the suburb — Port Botany and the western holdings at Chullora, Yennora, Villawood and Erskine Park are already in the basin, so the wait is rarely 'is there a box'.
Eastern suburbs sand and the Botany dune belt look firm well back from the beach. Outriggers still punch through turf. If the lift is over a terrace roof, photograph the roof, the wires and the landing pad, not only the front door.
Cosmetic spread inside one grade is wide here because the pool is deep. If appearance matters for a fit-out shell heading to a western workshop, ask for pictures of that unit before it moves. Pictures are sent ahead of the truck and are not a payment condition. Seven Hills, Silverwater and Wetherill Park trade yards should also say whether a forklift will work the doors, so the box is not landed the wrong way around.
