Choose for what goes inside.

Tools, fencing equipment, spare parts and machinery accessories all use space differently. Measure the largest item, allow room to carry it through the doors, and plan how you will retrieve the things at the back. Shelving can help with small items, but its footprint belongs in the plan too.

If the contents need protection from rain, start with a cargo-worthy or new single-trip unit. As-is containers are not sold watertight and should be assessed on their disclosed faults.

The best spot is reachable.

It may be convenient beside the shed, but the truck needs an approach and an unloading position. Farm gates, culverts, tight turns and soft tracks are useful details to share before a quote. A dry inspection day does not tell you how the ground will behave after rain.

Dry storage needs more than good door seals.

Moisture can enter with the contents or form as condensation. Avoid loading wet equipment and assuming a sealed box will dry it out. Discuss ventilation and the intended contents with the team, especially for moisture-sensitive goods.

Keep specialised storage separate.

A standard storage container is not a substitute for purpose-designed dangerous-goods storage. Tell the team if fuels, chemicals or other regulated materials are involved so suitability can be checked for that use.

20ft or 40ft?

The 20ft has a shorter footprint and may be easier to position. A 40ft offers more volume where the site and truck access allow it. Neither choice should be made on price alone: see the size comparison and site checklist.
